 EndNote Basic is a free, condensed, online version of EndNote Desktop, which is available by paid subscription.  The basic version allows you to do the following:

• Manually save references
• Import references
• Organize references into groups
• Share groups with others who are also using EndNote Basic
• Use Cite While You Write (CWYW) plugin for Word

Cite While You Write is a free, simple plugin for MS Word (Windows and Mac). 

• It allows you to quickly and easily insert styled citations to reference materials from your EndNote Library.  
• It automatically generates a bibliography for your paper using all of the materials you have cited.
