Zotero logo

Zotero (pronounced "zoh-TAIR-oh") is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share your research resources. 

Download Zotero as either a:

  • Fully-integrated Browser Plugin for Firefox, with all features and functionality
  • Standalone Application with Browser Extensions for:

Zotero works with Windows, Mac OS, Linux i686, and Linux x86_64.  Zotero does not work with Internet Explorer.

Sync Zotero with Cloud-Based Storage

 

Importing Citation Libraries from Other Sources

Zotero allows you to import your existing citation library from most other reference management software programs.

To import such libraries into Zotero, start by exporting the bibliographic data from your other software program.

Then, in Zotero:

  1. Click the gear icon (gear icon) and select “Import…”.
  2. Browse to your file and select it
  3. Click the “Open” button.
  4. This should import the exported items into your Zotero library in a date-stamped collection.

Using Word with Zotero

Zotero offers Word Processor Plugins that will add a Zotero Toolbar to Microsoft Word or LibreOffice

The Toolbar provides a number of functions :

  • Insert Citation
  • Edit Citation
  • Insert Bibliography
  • Edit Bibliography
  • Document Preferences
  • Remove Codes to Lock Updates
