To access the new email account, you will need to log in to Google using your new @cgi.edu email address. You may find that you are prompted to change your password. This is for security reasons.
Your folders, inbox, saved email messages, calendar items, Google Drive documents, etc. should all transfer over to the new Google email address/Google account and should be visible when you log in to Google using your new @cgi.edu email address.
If you believe that things are missing or that there are other issues, please contact support@cgi.edu.
Your old @cummingsinstitute.com email address has been linked to your new @cgi.edu email address. This is known as an email alias. An email alias is a helpful way for individuals to receive mail sent to another address all in one place. If someone emails your address @cummingsinstitute.com, you will receive this email in your @cgi.edu mailbox. You will not need to check a separate email inbox at @cummingsinstitute.com.
It is a good idea to alert any contacts who use the old @cummingsinstitute.com email address that you have a new email address. We also recommend that you include a line in your signature for the next several weeks to remind people.
Any service where you use the old @cummingsinstitute.com email address as a login should still work with the old email address. That is because you are using the entire email address as a piece of text, just words and letters, that acts the login. These types of accounts normally all have separate passwords that you have to keep track of, and use, to log in to the website/service. The old email address should still work as a login; however, it would be a good idea to change the login to your new email address.
If you use your Google account to actually log in -- where the service is linked specifically to your Google account (like YouTube or any other web service where you select "Log in with Google" as an option -- you may encounter some issues. The most common situation will be that you are asked to log in to your new Google account to authenticate the connection between services.
No. Your username and password at my.cummingsinstitute.com will not change. That is because your username there is not your email address, nor is your password connected to your Google account.
It may affect your notifications and the CGI Email and Calendar widget on the home page. If you experience issues with your notifications, go into your Account Settings and change your email address to reflect the new domain. The Help Desk will change this for you but it may take a day or two for that change to take effect.
At this time, we do not know how the domain change will affect the CGI Email and Calendar widget. You should expect a service disruption while we see what the widget will do and while we evaluate what changes will be needed. Once the widget is returned to service, expect to have to re-authorize your Google email address in the learning environment.
If you encounter an issues with your LMS account because of the email address change, please contact the Help Desk at idt@cgi.edu for assistance.

No. Your username and password at the CORE Library will not change unless you have used the "Sign in with Google" feature to set up your account. Then you should expect to have to re-authorize, or sign in again with Google, using the new email address.
It is highly recommended that you update your library account with your new email address. This is because the library will use that email address to send you a reset password link, notice of the need to reauthorize your account, etc. Updating your account with the new email address will ensure you receive those notices swiftly.
You may update your email address using the Update My Account link at the top of any search results page.
If you encounter an issues with your library account because of the email address change, please contact the CORE Library at library@cgi.edu for assistance.
No. One change at a time, LOL! At this time, we do not anticipate changing the URL of the online classrooms until at least Fall 2020. This change will be announced well in advance so you can update your bookmarks.
The URL for our marketing website, which is located at cummingsinstitute.com, will change to cgi.edu in January 2020.
Any links to items at the old cummingsinstitute.com website, such as Academic Catalog or information about tuition, forms, etc. will be redirected to cgi.edu. This redirect will happen automatically.
That one's the wild card right now. We don't honestly know how it will be affected, but you should assume it will be affected.Expect a service disruption while we evaluate the impact of the new email addresses on the functioning of the widget and make any required changes. Updates will be shared via the "News" area on the landing page of the LMS.
Yes, but the old links that use the cummingsinstitute.com website, such as Academic Catalog or information about tuition, forms, etc. will be redirected to cgi.edu. This redirect will happen automatically.
