This page contains links to the privacy policies of tools used in the online learning environment and in the library.

 

Cookies:  Many of the tools that are used in your online classrooms also use cookies.  Cookies  are small pieces of data placed on your web browser by the offerings you use or the Web sites you visit.  Most Web browsers enable you to manage cookies through your browser settings. Third-Party Service Providers:  Each tool or vendor's website  may contain links to other websites or services (e.g. Populi may use a third party to process payments).  The privacy policy of the tool or vendor does not apply to such websites or services and neither the vendor nor CGI is responsible for the content, privacy, or security practices and policies of those websites or services.   The list below is meant to be a starting point. 


The descriptions below are taken directly from third-party vendors' websites.  They are provided for your convenience and are not legally binding. 

Canvas (Instructure)

Canvas LMS, owned by Instructure, is committed to the privacy of its users.  CGI is an enterprise user of Canvas, which means that CGI users access Canvas by virtue of an agreement that we have with Instructure, the parent company of Canvas.  

Honorlock

Student privacy is incredibly important – to students, to professors and to Honorlock,  Honorlock provides simple and safe remote proctoring of online exams.

EBSCOHost

Protecting customer data continues to be top priority for EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO).   EBSCO Information Services wants you to have a positive experience in connection with our products and services. 


EBSCO uses cookies to authenticate users and help identify and prevent security risks.

YouTube

We're serious about protecting our users by addressing potential privacy concerns. Our privacy guidelines apply to all users across the world. In other words, while the video in question may not violate your country's privacy laws, it may still violate YouTube's privacy guidelines.

Vimeo

Vimeo, Inc. respects the privacy of our users and has developed this Privacy Policy to demonstrate its commitment to protecting your privacy. 

G-Suite by Google

CGI uses the G-Suite of tools (Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Drive, and more).  Your privacy matters to Google and their Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what data they collect, why they collect it, and what they do with it.

Populi

Protecting your privacy is really important to us.   CGI is a customer of Populi, and CGI students, faculty, and staff are the customer's "authorized users."

Turnitin

Turnitin respects your privacy and vigorously protects your personal data. We work hard to achieve extremely high levels of security through the use of appropriate technical and organisational measures.

Springshare/LibGuides

Springshare is a cloud-based software and services provider.  Our customers are libraries and educational institutions - they have been the leading advocates in the fight for user privacy in the age of Internet. We fully support their vision regarding this, and when providing Springshare services our interests are aligned with the interests of our customers. In short, we care about protecting your data as much as you do! 

Zoom

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (“Zoom”) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our website and in using our products and services.

Zendesk

Zendesk is the application that the CORE Library and CGI in general use to provide a Help Desk ticketing system and Knowledge Base.  

What Do We Share?

CGI and the CORE Library may use the personally-identifiable information you provide during the admissions and enrollment process to deliver educational services and to support you with regard to matters such as academic progress, customer service, or student affairs.  

Third-party vendors assist CGI in the provision of online products or services and those vendors are provided with the minimum amount of data required to perform the tasks for which they have been engaged, consistent with legal requirements, such as FERPA.  

Privacy Notification

When you use LibGuides, the system writes several cookies in your browser. These cookies tell us whether and when you are logged in.

In addition, your IP address and browser info is stored in server logs in order to generate aggregate anonymized usage statistics. Your IP address and login name are also stored in the LibGuides activity log to facilitate troubleshooting. This information is available to Springshare staff only and is only accessed upon institution request. 

We never share or sell any user information to third parties.
